1. Walk Millennium Park

Known for its free concerts, public art installations, and proximity to the Loop, Millennium Park is one of the most popular destinations in Chicago. Filled with pedestrian bridges and unique sculpture around every corner there is always something to see in Millennium Park. Be sure to check the calendar to see if there are any shows or concerts that catch your eye. The park also is home to the bean, which a must do Instagram spot if you are visiting Chicago. Be sure to spend at least a little time here on your trip!

2. Window Shop along the Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile stretches from Lake Shore Drive to the Chicago River. It is a dream walk for any shopaholic as you will pass stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Forever21, and Neiman Marcus. Also along this walk you will find sought after eateries and luxury hotels such as the Drake. If you are feeling like treating yourself on your Chicago adventure the Magnificent Mile is for you. But even if you are not a shopper the architecture along the walk will also make this worth your while!

3.Explore the Navy Pier

Although you will rarely find locals at the Navy Pier, it is a truly great place to put on your list of must see spots when you visit Chicago. This hot spot includes shops, food stands, and public art exhibitions. In addition, the Navy Pier has a 200 ft. high Ferris Wheel to ride. If heights are not your thing, instead take one of the many sightseeing boat tours that take off right from the pier into Lake Michigan. Or if you just want to sit back and relax, hang out in the trendy beer garden. We suggest doing both!

4. Visit the Art Institute of Chicago

Guarded by two bronze lions, the Art Institute of Chicago contains more than 300,000 works ranging from Greek sculptures to Japanese prints. While wandering the extensive and inspiring galleries, you never know what you may stubble upon. Located in the heart of Chicago, the Museum is an iconic building that is just as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. Don’t only admire the building, also go in and admire the exhibits and all they have to offer.

5. See a show at the Second City

It is a must, MUST to go see a show at Second City if you are in Chicago. This place put both improv and sketch comedy on the radar and launched the careers of favorites such as Tina Fey, Steve Carrell, Joan Rivers, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Murray. Who knows? Buy a ticket and YOU may see the next rising comedy star. Beginning as a small comedy theater, Second City is now the leading brand in improv-based comedy and really invests in its actors. It’s definitely worth it.
